Residential Tar and Gravel Roofs

Many residences are covered with a traditional Tar and Gravel roof system that has a life span of 15-25 years after which the stress of the heat and cold causes the tar to blister and crack allowing water to travel under the asphalt surface and leak through the roof deck below.

A typical garage or family room addition, this 500 square foot roof was a perfect candidate for our coatings. After an aggressive cleaning as part of the preparation the roof is repaired prior to being coated.

The first coat is a primer applied at approximately 20mm wet. The final surface is a bright white which keeps the building cool in the summer months reducing hydro costs.
